What does the Foundation do?
International María Luisa de Moreno Foundation
Through the implementation of personal development programmes, the María Luisa de Moreno International Foundation works to benefit vulnerable communities by applying social intervention models aimed at transforming individuals; generally using the “Discovering Capabilities, an Opportunity” method, developed by Dr María Luisa Piraquive.
In 2012, the Foundation began its work in London, England. Over the years, various initiatives have been developed to facilitate access to quality education for the most vulnerable communities in India, Cameroon, Kenya, Equatorial Guinea, China, and Colombia. Likewise, significant efforts have been made to provide humanitarian assistance to these and other communities, such as China and Ukraine.
In line with this, the Foundation in England continuously carries out its social work through strategic lines focused on providing education, humanitarian aid, social wellbeing, entrepreneurship, and productivity worldwide. This work is replicated through sister foundations in Canada, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Spain, England, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Bolivia, and Switzerland.
From England, the Foundation has facilitated significant aid to support vulnerable communities in Bamenda (Cameroon) in Africa through Support Days where children were awarded scholarships to cover their school fees. Families were supplied with groceries for six months, stoves, and paraffin to fuel the stoves.
In Shanghai, China, support was given to an orphanage of children with visual impairments and hearing impairments, including scholarships covering school fees. In Dehli, India, a team from the Foundation in England visited a girls’ orphanage to grant school fees and carry out recreational activities. The team from England, together with counterparts from the sister foundation in Switzerland and GCI (Global Concerns in India), provided support to a population in Bangalore, India, to also award school fees and support vulnerable children at a local school.
Additionally, through the Virtual Campus, the Foundation’s work has expanded to 47 countries internationally. Through the Virtual Campus, efforts have focused on developing skills and capabilities by offering training courses in various subjects, arts, and trades. Most recently, the Virtual Campus has carried out significant efforts to provide the Human Awakening course to beneficiaries in Kenya, Africa, to hone personal and social skills.
Finally, the Foundation has promoted entrepreneurial initiatives, including support for the Cocoa Cacao Ambassadors project. This social cause benefited more than 60,000 cocoa-farming families in Colombia.
